Ultrasonography is a safe, non-invasive imaging tool that lets us look at your pet’s internal organs in real time.
It uses sound waves—not radiation—to create images of structures like the liver, kidneys, bladder, spleen, intestines, heart, and, in some cases, pregnancies.
Ultrasonography is useful because it:
- Helps us identify the cause of illness when blood tests or X-rays aren’t enough
- Allows us to see soft tissues clearly, which X-rays can’t do well
- We can evaluate organ size, shape, and texture
- Can help guide needle samples or biopsies safely if needed
The procedure is generally painless and stress-free. Most pets are awake, though some may need mild sedation to stay comfortable and still. We shave the fur on the abdominal area so we can get clear images.
Ultrasound gives us important information that helps us make an accurate diagnosis and choose the best treatment plan, often avoiding more invasive procedures.
Our brand-new Ultrasound technology allows us to perform a scan and have a board-certified radiologist review the images immediately. No delays, no expensive referrals and no guesswork!
We are able to perform full abdominal ultrasounds or organ focused ultrasounds with specialist consultation.
You will receive detailed reports from a board-certified specialist within a 12–48-hour standard turnaround time. Stat Services are available within 2 hours if necessary for additional costs. In our experience, not every client is amenable to travel to a large referral hospital, nor the cost associated with those hospitals. We hope we can remedy that situation with the Oncura Telemedicine Service for our area.
